1.) When on the internet personal information should be kept private. Just because someone asks doesn't mean you need to tell them. When someone asks for personal information, consider how they might use that information and whether it is necessary for them to have it.

2.) If you are conversing with someone online, don't assume that they are being honest with you. Just because they say they're 16 doesn't mean they are.

3.) Do not release your password to anyone, even if they say they are from your online provider.

4.) Overall it is best not to respond to unsolicited e-mail (SPAM), if there is something flagrant or inappropriate in the e-mail, consider reporting the sender to their Internet Service Provider (ISP).

5.) Do not give out or post identifying information, including address or telephone numbers.

6.) You may want to create a nickname for a screen name in chat rooms.

7.) Keep in mind when posting in chat rooms or newsgroups, that there may be lurkers (people who read but do not post). Your information can be read and seen by all.

8.) Keep an open dialogue with children surfing the Internet, remember if they come to you with a problem, your first reaction should not be to take away the Internet. Applaud child's confidence in confiding in you and work together to find a solution.

9.) Overall it is not a good idea to post or exchange pictures over the Internet

Strangers can now enter your home, without a key or coming through a door. How you may ask? These strangers enter your home using a keyboard. These strangers can befriend your children online.

Social networking has become increasingly popular and websites like Myspace have thrived with adolescents and teens. While pedophiles may be the minority on these sites, the threat of having a pedophile enter your home, under the guise of being someone their not, is just too big of a threat to ignore.

It may seem harmless enough, at first glance. I mean, what do other web surfers really know about your child? They might even live half a world away. How could they possibly harm your child? Perhaps you might even see the educational value of your child interacting with individuals from other cultures and understanding the global nature of today's world, but consider this...

Children online don't feel that these "friends" are strangers. They "chat" with them daily. These people, who parents consider strangers, are their friends. They understand what the child is going through and they listen in ways the parents never seem to. The recent riveting testimony of a young boy that was drawn into online pornography at the age of 13, should be a wake up call to all parents. Computers and the Internet can be far more dangerous than most parents ever imagine. The likelihood of a child online will encounter strangers is far higher than a stranger wandering into their backyard.

Parents warn their children about strangers as they grow up, perhaps its time to redefine the term stranger. Consider the following to protect your child, adolescent, or teenager while online.

1. Webcams.
Do not allow your children to use a webcam unsupervised. Children will often forget that the webcams are there or even worse, what may seem harmless online flirting might result in unwarranted or undesired attention from an anonymous predator. Additionally, webcams have been tied to home robberies where burglars viewed items of interest through a webcam. A little online digging resulted in the home address, and items were then stolen.

2. Common Area.
In spite of an adolescents or a teenagers need for privacy, it is best to keep the computer in a family common area. It might be helpful to explain to your child why it is important that computers be out in the open. Children should understand that using a computer is not a right, is a privilege. Parents can and should supervise online activity.

3. Personal Information.
Personal information is just that, personal, and should not be shared by children. As easy as that is to say, sometimes children are often confused as to what constitutes personal information. Educating children about what personal information is, is just as important as educating them as telling them not to share. Children need to understand that just because someone asks for personal information doesn't mean you have to tell them.

What is personal information? Knowing not to share your location, name, age, address, phone number, town, password, and schedule might seem obvious to children, but what many don't realize is that predators will often piece together various bits of information. A predator will aggregate data to determine a child's location or true identity. Predators are able to use IP tracking and the location of an online web provider that you use might assist them in narrowing down a location. Information related to sports events or scheduled concerts will further allow a predator to ascertain a child's location and personal information.

Provide adolescents and teenagers these tips in determining what information is appropriate or inappropriate to share. Tell them to ask themselves how the predator can use the requested information? Is it necessary for them to have that information? Why?

4. Crossing the Bounds.
It is easy to explain to a child that a stranger is someone they don't know in the real world, but online the definition becomes blurred. Is a friend of a friend online, a stranger? If you have communicated X number of times with someone, are they still a stranger? Assist your children in drawing lines about who is appropriate to communicate with, and who is not.

5. Candor.
When talking to children about surfing online, it is important to be honest with them. Children have to understand the dangers, but should not live in fear. Balancing candor and fear might be tricky, but you know your child best and keeping it real will help them navigate and how to stay safe online.

6. Trust.
Trust online is a funny thing, just because someone says something is true does not mean that it is. Bloggers and online wikis are dealing with credibility issues, yet individuals are often trusted until proven untrustworthy.

7. Identifying Information.

11. Meeting.
It of course goes without saying that children should not meet any individual that they converse with online.

12. Chat Rooms.
Chat rooms are playgrounds for sexual predators. The chat room owners have no method to detect a lurking predator from a child. As a result it is just a good practice to restrict access to chat rooms.

13. Instant Messaging.
Adolescents and teenagers often want to communicate, whether on the phone or via the Internet. Instant messaging is a popular phenomenon for children. If you allow your child to communicate using instant messaging, be sure to block instant messaging from anyone unknown. Additionally, spot check their buddy list to make sure that it has not been altered. Use a tool like AOL where restrictions can be implemented.

14. Online Games.
Often online games, will contain a chat component. The same rules that apply to instant messaging should apply to the online games and chatting. Rarely are filters available for the online games and many children will encounter strangers who evolve into friends through online play. Be leery and weary.

The Internet is global and not governed by any single entity. There are no limitations. By creating clear boundaries for your children they will be able to take advantage of this amazing vehicle without putting themselves at risk.

Computer games have seen an incredible amount of growth over the past several decades. In 1961, two MIT students created what is now considered the 'first' computer game for the PDP-1, called Spacewar!, where two ships skirted around a central star in an attempt to destroy each other. In 1972, the first text-based computer game, Adventure, emerged.

Text-based games, or 'interactive fiction' were the primary medium of gaming on PCs for almost two decades ' until the advent of affordable personal computers with graphics engines took hold. Text-games began to merge word commands with graphics, creating very basic games such as Pool of Radiance.

Games such as the King's Quest series began to popularize story-based computer games, and in 1992 the first successful first-person shooter ' Wolfenstein 3D ' hit shelves, launching one of the most popular computer game genres of all time.

A breakthrough in 3D computer graphics came in 1993, with the release of the RPG game Doom. This game would lead developers toward creating more of a sense of realism in computer games, and in 1995, the rise of Microsoft's Windows OP launched an interest into hardware accelerated PC graphics. There were a number of affordable solutions created, in order to stay competitive with the now rejuvenated console market, and in 1996, the third-person action/adventure shooter Tomb Raider was released with revolutionary graphics.

Improved CPU technology saw a huge increase in gaming realism, as Microsoft's operating systems forced many MS-DOS games to become unplayable, and today's computer gaming market relies heavily on realism in games in order to stay current with consumer demand. Today, in hopes of moving closer to that essential quality of gamerosity, we examine part of what makes us tick. In particular, we take a look at what draws different types of gamers to the hobby. Every gamer plays for different reasons, but there are common threads that tie the experience together.

Many gamers are motivated by the challenge a game can present. Success in a game may be governed by any of a wide variety of abilities. A First Person Shooter requires twitch reflexes, a steady hand and the ability to remain calm under pressure. A word puzzle game may require an extensive vocabulary and the ability to rethink the uses of old words, but no measure of speed. A sports simulation might well require an in-depth knowledge of the topic, in addition to arcade skill, but is unlikely to have terribly much concern for linguistic acumen.

The common thread is that all of the games challenge some subset of a player's abilities. This challenge can be a powerful motivator. The Challenge Motivated gamer is drawn to a game that tests their skills, preferably one that tests them to their limits.

The gamer may also be motivated by the natural improvement that comes from working at peak. They are driven then, not only to excel, but to improve. Challenge Motivated Gamers thrive whenever a game pushes their skill set of choice, but may be disinterested in games that fall too far away from the target.

Competition is a close cousin of challenge. Many gamers are driven by the need to prove they are the best, to be pitted against their fellows and come out on top. Competition minded gamers range from those looking for a challenge in a fair fight to the sort of win-at-all cost leet speaking infants that give us all a bad name.

Competition can be easy to take too far. There is nothing inherently wrong with being driven by competition. To some extent, competition is merely challenge taken to the extreme. It is only when it leads to mistreating your fellow player that it begins to become less a motivation and more an unfortunate personality quirk.

Competition Motivated players thrive on those games where they are pitted against one another with the outcome dictated by skill at playing the game. They will often wane in those environments that either require cooperation, such as many MMORPGs, or in games where skill plays a much smaller role, such as in less sophisticated card or dice games.

During the early years of video games, it was incredibly popular for young children to go down to the Arcades and play video games.

Playing video games at home began in 1977 when the company, Atari, released their video game system, 'VCS' (later known as Atari 2600) for a princely sum of $249. In the same year, Nintendo released their console, TV Game 6, to rival the Atari 2600.

It's name? The world-renowned 'Space Invaders'.

In 1980, many classic arcade games were made. Video games such as Atari's 'Asteroids' and Namco's 'Pacman' which can now be easily played in handheld consoles such as the Nintendo DS.

By 1994, many sagas of Video Game history came and went. There was a Video Game Console market crash which made many companies pull out of the business leaving Nintendo, Sega and Atari - the leading competitors of the market.

In 1995, Atari pulled out of the market and a new competitor emerged - Sony - which would famously go on to lead the console market. In that year, Sony released the 'Playstation' - a 32-bit CD-based video game console, Sega released the 'Saturn' and Nintendo released the 'Nintendo 64' which was the last video game console that used cartridge media.

By the year 2000, Sony had a firm grip on the Video Game Console market as it released the Playstation 2 with many loyal game developers such as Namco (Ridge Racer, Tekken) and selling over 100 million units. The Playstation 2 was the first console which was able to play games of its predecessor.

In the following years, Microsoft entered the market with the 'Xbox', Nintendo released the 'Gamecube'. Nintendo led the handheld console with the release of Gameboy Advance which could play Gameboy and Gameboy Color cartridges.

Sega eventually left the Console industry, happily residing to be a software-only designer.

Now in 2006, there seems to be a gradual switch of the market leader with Microsoft releasing their Next-Gen console faster than Sony and Nintendo.

The 'XBox 360' features razor-sharp graphics and enables users to play online with each other. It was released at Christmas 2005 but many consoles were sent back to the manufacturers because of faulty parts.

The Sony Playstation 3 is set for launch on the November 2006 after the delay of its original release date Spring 2006 because of copyright complications. Video Games are vastly disseminated all over the world. Questions can never be asked regarding their capacity to entertain and the ability to fully satisfy a gamer. They are actually doing comparisons.

Comparing a video game system is very important for these three levels of enthusiasts. This will help them master whatever they are currently into. In addition, reviews and comparisons aid other gamers in finding out which games are worth looking into and which game consoles to buy.

But how do these people come up with a review and what are the things that they do in order to write one? There are also techniques and procedures that one must follow in order to arrive at a very good comparison of video game systems. - Lastly, conclude in a manner that you balance things. You may also cling to the other game that is really good for you but do not ever forget the good side of the other game. Compare video game systems in an unbiased way.

This idea is also true in computer gaming. In video games, the peripherals or the devices that you are going to use must meet the requirements set by the game. These requirements are primarily on the capacity of your device; say a console, to perform tasks and to read the game set for by the programmer.

Compatibility also has something to do with computer requirements. The idea behind this is the simple fact that a game can be played with compatible device which can play perfectly the said software. For instance, the video resolution of a program may differ according to the monitor that a gamer may use. With requirements, the user may know which monitor can possibly display good video.

Why set a minimum requirement for a certain console in line with the game? All game programs are innovated in the highest technology environments. When they are incompatible with the hardware devices, chances are that the operation of such game may be greatly affected. These minimum requirements are neither for the game producer nor for the console maker. These are actually for the consumer, in the case of computer video game, for the gamer to have the best possible output from a combination of right game the right system requirement.

Requirements are actually computer specifications that each device must possess. Basically, each game may require certain specifications to the device they must be played with. The game may require the following from the computer:

- Processor Speed - the speed for the processor is one of the crucial system requirements a certain game may ask your computer to possess. This said speed will determine how fast your computer will act or execute a decision. Since, games are all executable programs, speed of the processor is very important. Processor speed has a unit of megahertz (MHz) and gigahertz (GHz). The unit megahertz are smaller unit than gigahertz. More precisely, a gigahertz is equal to a thousand megahertz. High-speed processors can run any game equal to its speed and lower but slower processors may not run games with higher speed requirements.

- Random Access Memory - this is commonly known as the internal memory or plainly memory of the computer. This memory helps store some data immediately needed by the processor. Most of the computer machines available in the market has preset RAM equivalent to 64MB. Most games may require RAM equal to this. However, there are game programs that require higher RAM like 126MB. This is not something to worry about because RAM can be upgraded with higher memory capacity.

- VRAM - this stands for Video Read Access Memory. The ability of your computer to display good resolution games depends on the VRAM. This memory works with the video card. Video cards are like processors however it is only focused on feeding the monitor with visual commands. The VRAM is a temporary memory that saves all graphical information that will be later on fed to the video card and the processor.

- Disc Capacity - refers to the capacity of the hard drive to store files and information. Disc space is also measured and uses the unit megabytes (MB) just like the VRAM and the RAM. The higher the disc space, the more games that you can store and play in your computer. Like the RAM, disc memory capacity may also be upgraded. One can even have higher memory that can be measured in gigabyte (GB).

- CD-ROM drive speed - not all the games that are installed in your pc may no longer require a disc. Most game companies upgrade computer game programs using discs. This are later added in the game specs by means of reinstalling it in the computer. The faster the CD-ROM is the faster the installation will be. Every now and then, you will use the CD-ROM not just in playing games but also in ensuring copyright protection and the like. Just like other requirements, the CD-ROM speed can perform its duty well to game programs that has equal speed requirement or slower.

I can't find some of my favorite games on your site?
You can send me a description of the game you like to be added. However there is no guarantee that it will be added. This site is not (and will not) be an extensive game site. That is left to the major game site that I got these games from. Games offered here are my personal collection, few in numbers but of high quality. For more games you can check out the game sites in the side bar of the site.

Will more games be added to what you now offer at this site?
Most likely, provided that they pass my criteria. If I like a game it will be added to my collection however, it will be just a few more games for the sake of my visitors. The aim is to have just a few quality games (not quantity).

How often will you add more games?
There is no set or regular time schedule. It could be weeks or months.

Do you play all of the games listed here?
Some of them but all of them if you take into account testing them out for quality before coding them into the site.

MyGame is a personal site with a collection of some great and fun packed free online games that are very entertaining. Some are even classic games from the 80's!

Games featured on this site are selected for my entertainment and for my visitors and readers from my other two sites (Did You Know? and Tell Me Why?) including also all those who hop on by from the World Wide Web. I have taken suggestions from my readers to add a fun section with few games to my sites. I then started out by using a single web page but found it difficult to implement on a single blog page. It then came to me that it would be better to add another site with a limited selection of games. Consequently, I've therefore created this site which I now call MyGame to reflect this. Games selected and added first were based on my personal collection of games that I personally liked and which I hoped my readers would find interesting too. However, I have been adding a couple more based on the request - providing that the game passed my criteria.

Purpose
The purpose of this site is to provide entertainment in the form of games for all my visitors/readers from my other two sites, internet surfers and myself. MyGame along with my other sites offers a one stop place where both learning and playing can take place. Visitors and readers who have the extra time or are just bored can always come to this site to play games.

This site is not (and will not) be an extensive game site. MyGame features just a limited collection of some hot, free and fun packed high quality online games.

MyGame also provides updated news on video games from a few selected news source.
